What Is On My Mind Today?

Relaxation techniques and breathing exercises are the two best strategies which works for the majority of people, when you focus on your coping skills it takes your attention and your mind off of your negative thoughts and feelings. Using visualization to visualize yourself speaking in front of a crowd before you actually do it helps many people, if you are feeling shaky, muscle relaxation is something you can do without others even know you are doing it. If these techniques are not able to solve your self-consciousness and anxious thoughts and feelings, consulting with a physician is your next best choice. A physician can prescribe medications to calm you down, I recommend you requesting a quick temporary anxiety reducer medication you can take only when you are in this type of situation.

This is a great article here, everything you said about introverts in this article applies to me. When I was in school and I had to do some public speaking I got extremely nervous. My hands shook and my voice cracked and even thought I memorized what I was going to talk about, sometimes, I got so nervous that I forgot to talk about some of the things that I wanted to talk about. Then I would always get extremely angry at myself at the end because I never understood why I got so nervous, after all, it was just public speaking. I agree with you I definitely feel as though being self-conscious limits my ability to enjoy life. So are you an introvert, or an extrovert?

I was too young, (just having turned 5 years old about a week before) to remember back when Marilyn Monroe decided to tragically end her life back in August of 1962. She had a very troubled life as despite the adultation the public gave her regarding her acting career and sheer beauty, Marilyn was always a very insecure individual. Having been raised in a foster home as a young girl might have been a contributing factor in how Marilyn grew up into adulthood.

The article spoke to what goes on within the minds of people who suffer from self-esteem issues, are introverted, (plus very shy), and who generally lack confidence within their own beings.

Prescription medication is often not the answer, as in Marilyn’s case she took an overdose of pills combined with alcohol on that tragic evening.

Once suffering from depression and anxiety myself after the passing of my dad back in the mid-90’s I can attest to the fact that, although different, having a strong support group around you is crucial.

Sometimes working with a psychiatrist who would make attempts to get to the root cause of that person’s mental state would help as well as being taught self-coping skills.

For me, I also found out that a daily routine of exercise, (bicycle riding) alleviated the anxiety that was within my being.

It’s so sad that in today’s world with the growth of social media that many teenage kids have serious self-esteem issues, often being bullyed on the Internet.
For a fact a lot of people today need help!

Well said Jeff, I think I have experience of being self-conscious and understand what you talking here. Perhaps the reason of being self-conscious is where and how I have grown up.

But during the years and I manage to overcome from introvert to extrovert. Yes, the progress is not easy and sometimes I know things need to be changed in order for me to enjoy life.

Until when I try to not taking care what others people thinking of me and find ways to release my tension.

I do agree and have tried all the method you mentioned above like breathing exercise and relaxation exercise. And I also applied meditation and chanting, I practice this every day and I would advise to people reading this find the way suit themselves.

I hope more people able to read this article. Well done and straight to the point.
